What is the Customs Clearance process?
Customs clearance is the process of moving goods through customs before they can enter a country and it involves submitting pre-arrival import declarations which allow importers to begin the customs clearance process before goods actually arrive at customs. This process can be ver different between countries. The 4 major steps are:
Customs paperwork is examined by a customs officer
Import duties and taxes are assessed using customs paperwork
If applicable, customs will request payment for taxes and duties
Your shipment will clear customs once all duties are paid
